KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – Vistage has been officially recognised by Asia Record as the “Largest CEO Peer Advisory Network in 2025,” highlighting the scale of a leadership community built around one powerful idea: CEOs do not have to make their most difficult decisions alone.

Through confidential peer advisory groups, one-to-one executive coaching and access to expert perspectives, Vistage brings CEOs, business owners and senior executives together to challenge assumptions, exchange experiences and approach important decisions from different perspectives.

Today, Vistage’s global community comprises approximately 45,000 members, while Vistage Malaysia has grown to more than 1,400 members.

Business leaders can learn more about its programmes and leadership community through the official Vistage Malaysia website.

Why CEOs Need Other CEOs

Leadership can become increasingly isolated as executives move higher within an organisation.

Employees expect direction. Management teams look to the CEO for decisions. Shareholders and stakeholders expect results.

Yet the person making those decisions may have relatively few people with whom they can openly discuss their biggest uncertainties.

This is the problem Vistage’s peer advisory model is designed to address.

Instead of relying solely on conventional business consulting, Vistage brings leaders from non-competing companies together within confidential peer groups.

Members can discuss business challenges, opportunities and strategic decisions with executives who understand the responsibilities that come with running an organisation.

The objective is not for another CEO to run the member’s business.

It is to provide perspectives that may help the leader identify assumptions, blind spots or possibilities they may not have considered.

Inside a Vistage Peer Advisory Group

Vistage’s model combines several forms of leadership development.

Its peer advisory groups typically consist of 12 to 16 business leaders from non-competing companies, creating an environment where executives can discuss issues without competing directly against one another.

The groups are led by experienced Vistage Chairs, who facilitate the discussions.

Members can also receive one-to-one executive coaching and gain access to expert speakers and leadership resources.

For CEOs, this creates a structured environment for discussing issues that may otherwise remain inside the boardroom — from growth strategy and talent management to organisational challenges and major business decisions.

Vistage Recognised by Asia Record

The scale of Vistage’s CEO community resulted in the organisation being officially recognised by Asia Record as the “Largest CEO Peer Advisory Network in 2025.”

The recognition represents an important milestone for an organisation whose model has been built around leadership through collective experience.

While Vistage provides the structure, much of the value of a peer advisory network comes from its members.

Every CEO or business leader brings a different industry background, leadership experience and perspective to the table.

The achievement therefore reflects the collective contributions of Vistage members, Chairs, coaches, speakers, employees and the wider leadership community.

Commenting on the recognition, Ng Pei Yin, Chief Executive Officer of Vistage Malaysia, said:

“We are honoured to be recognised by Asia Record as the largest CEO peer advisory network. This achievement reflects our dedication to supporting leaders through meaningful connections and expert guidance. We will continue to strengthen our network and enhance the value we provide to CEOs.”

More Than 1,400 Business Leaders in Malaysia

Vistage has developed a particularly strong presence in Malaysia.

The Malaysian organisation was founded in Kuala Lumpur in 1994 by businessman Richard CM Wong and became a wholly owned subsidiary of Vistage Worldwide in June 2023.

Today, Vistage Malaysia reports a community of more than 1,400 members and over 60 Vistage Chairs.

The economic footprint of that community is substantial.

Vistage Malaysia’s 2025 CEO Confidence Index materials reported that its members collectively represented approximately RM90 billion in annual revenue and more than 140,000 employees.

These figures demonstrate that Vistage’s Malaysian community is not simply a networking group.

Its members collectively lead businesses responsible for significant economic activity and employment.

Leadership Development Beyond Networking

It would be easy to describe Vistage as a business networking organisation, but that misses an important distinction.

Networking is often about making connections.

Peer advisory is about what happens after those connections are made.

Vistage’s model creates recurring, structured conversations where leaders can examine real business issues with other executives.

That distinction matters.

A CEO may have hundreds or thousands of professional contacts but still lack a small group of people with whom they can openly discuss a difficult acquisition, leadership problem, succession issue or strategic decision.

Vistage attempts to create that environment through confidentiality, carefully structured groups and ongoing participation.

Better Questions Can Lead to Better Decisions

One of the most valuable contributions peers can make is not necessarily providing an answer.

Sometimes it is asking a question the CEO has not considered.

Senior executives can become deeply immersed in their organisations. That experience provides valuable knowledge, but it can also make certain assumptions difficult to recognise.

Someone from another industry may see the same problem differently.

A manufacturer may learn something from a technology entrepreneur. A property executive may gain perspective from a retail CEO. A second-generation family business leader may discover useful ideas from a professional manager.

The industries may be different, but many leadership challenges are surprisingly similar.

This diversity of perspectives is one reason Vistage intentionally brings together executives from non-competing businesses.

A Leadership Model Dating Back to 1957

The Vistage concept has a long history.

Its origins date to 1957, when businessman Bob Nourse brought together executives in Milwaukee in the United States to help one another work through business challenges.

The fundamental idea was relatively simple: put experienced business leaders from non-competing companies in a confidential environment where they could learn from each other.

Nearly seven decades later, that principle remains at the centre of Vistage.

What began with a small group of executives has developed into a global leadership organisation serving approximately 45,000 members.

That longevity also demonstrates something important about leadership development.

Technology changes. Industries change. Business models change.

But leaders still benefit from having experienced people around them who are prepared to challenge their thinking.

From CEO Coaching to a Global Leadership Community

Vistage’s scale also gives members access to something broader than an individual advisory group.

Its programmes serve CEOs, business owners, key executives and emerging leaders at different levels of organisational responsibility.

For chief executives, the experience combines peer advisory meetings with individual coaching and expert insights.

The wider global network also creates access to leadership perspectives beyond an executive’s immediate market.

This can become increasingly valuable as Malaysian businesses expand internationally and CEOs encounter challenges involving digital transformation, talent, succession, economic uncertainty and new markets.

The official Vistage Malaysia website provides further information about its Chief Executive, Key Executive and other leadership programmes.

Why Peer Advisory Matters in an Uncertain Business Environment

The role of a CEO has become increasingly complex.

Leaders must make decisions while navigating economic uncertainty, technological disruption, changing customer behaviour and intensifying competition.

Artificial intelligence is changing how organisations work.

Workforce expectations are evolving.

New competitors can emerge faster than before.

And decisions that once had years to develop may now need to be made within months or weeks.

No single executive can be an expert in every area.

The ability to access different perspectives therefore becomes increasingly valuable.

Peer advisory does not remove uncertainty, nor does it guarantee that every decision will be correct.

What it can provide is a structured environment in which leaders can examine those decisions before acting.

Leadership Has a Multiplier Effect

Developing a CEO can also have consequences beyond one individual.

A leader’s decisions influence management teams, employees, customers, shareholders and sometimes entire communities.

Vistage Malaysia’s own Q4 2025 CEO Confidence Index illustrates this wider leadership effect. Among surveyed members, 95% reported becoming better strategic thinkers, 89% reported becoming more effective leaders, and 88% said they had become better at empowering their people.

Those are self-reported outcomes rather than guarantees of business performance, but they illustrate how participants perceive the impact of leadership development.

When the person at the top changes how they think, communicate and lead, those changes can cascade throughout an organisation.

Building a Stronger Leadership Community

The Asia Record recognition in 2025 provides Vistage with another milestone in a journey that began almost seven decades ago.

Its scale is impressive, but the underlying proposition remains remarkably simple.

Bring good leaders together.

Give them a confidential environment.

Encourage them to challenge one another.

And help them make more considered decisions.

For Vistage Malaysia, led by CEO Ng Pei Yin, the next chapter will involve continuing to strengthen this leadership community while helping Malaysian CEOs navigate an increasingly complex business environment.

Because even the person at the top sometimes needs someone to ask:

“Have you looked at it another way?”
